| Leo Abshire died May 31, 2005,
at his residence in Gueydan. He was 71 years old.
His music lives on through the fiddles he made, through his recordings, and through the musicians whom he inspired and helped to guide. He is shown during a performance at the Liberty Theater October 30, 2004. |
 Shown with Leo Abshire are two members of the Ole Tymers Cajun Band at the time of his death: Errol Jenkins from Scott on accordion and Errol Guilbeau from Opelousas on rhythm guitar. In the performance at the Liberty Oct. 30, 2004, Vernon Bergeron is shown on drums and Ray Guidry is on bass guitar at far right. Morris Newman was the band's regular drummer. |
