Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week.
For all of the full-time
participants in the Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole
Heritage Week, the activities include a wide range
of workshops and other programs all day long. But
nearby residents who can't attend full time but are
interested in a particular afternoon workshop can
sign up for a "Local Lagniappe" session--either
hands-on instruction or a demonstration workshop in
which participants watch and learn. Cajun and Creole
music is a folk tradition, passed from one
generation, experienced and absorbed directly
through encounters similar to those offered in the
small groups sessions during DBCCHW.
Below are a few photos from
the sessions held after the Vanicor Brothers' master
presentation Monday afternoon.
