C’est
La-La
(Music:
Aart de Bruin. Words: John den Exter)
New
York City, the early fall
Of eighty-seven, as I recall
A tuesday night at the Lone Star Cafe
There he played his songs, while sitting down
With his starry smile and golden crown
The King of Zydeco: Clifton Chenier
While
his brother Cleveland did his funny dance
I was happy that I got a chance
To see this legend, still doing his stuff
Cause for a long time I’ve known his songs
So all night long I sang along
We all loved it, we could not get enough
Big Mamou, Lafayette,
Grand Coteaux, et toi
'Les haricots' became the 'Zydeco'
C’est La-La, la musique pour moi
Only one month after, on the radio
A voice said: "'The King of
Zydeco,
Clifton Chenier, is no more….''
But his spirit is still going
strong
We’re paying tribute with this song
To his music, that we all adore
Big Mamou, Lafayette, Grand Coteaux, et toi
'Les haricots' became the 'Zydeco'
C’est La-La, la musique pour moi
this
song will be recorded live for the new LIVE CD "C'est La-La"
from the Dutch Cajun band Les Chats Acadiens.
